2020 Session Guide | High School Graduates
Hello there!
It’s almost time for your photo session! I can’t wait to spend some time with your family and have some fun capturing your unique personalities. Before our session, there are a few things you should know so we can get the most out of session and make it as awesome as possible.
Preparing for your Session
This session is all about you, and chances are, there’s a lot I don’t know about you! I need you to fill out the little questionnaire I sent you, but more importantly, I would love to know about any locations or special requests you have for your session. Anything I want for the session as far as light and location should take a backseat to what will best tell your story. I’ve had requests for anything from horseback riding to skiing, and plenty in-between. So let’s talk and make sure we are on the same page. There may be additional travel or venue fees if we get super adventurous.
Styling Tips for your Session
THE BEST SUGGESTION THAT I CAN OFFER YOU IS TO BE YOURSELVES. Choose a wardrobe that is comfortable for everyone. Choose clothing that reflects your style and compliments the location you have chosen. New outfits are amazing and can make you feel really great, but you may have most of what you need already. If you have sports jerseys, casual clothes, and something more dressy, let’s talk about it before the session so we know which outfit works best for each location.
Be Comfortable
Everyone has their own style, so every session will look and feel different. Choose outfits that are flattering, but do not make you self-conscious. If you’re a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, this is probably not the best time to decide to wear a tight fitting cocktail dress. But since clothing changes are part of the session, make sure you really show who you are!
What to Expect
Don’t worry about posing, feeling awkward, or doing what’s “right.” I’ll take care of everything as I capture you as you are, and direct you into natural moments. All you have to do is relax and have fun. Full sessions are 1-2 hours long.
After your session, I will prepare your online gallery. This generally takes two to three weeks. Once your gallery is complete, I will email you a link where you can view and download all images (printable up to 5X7). This gallery may be shared with whoever you’d like. You may then choose to order albums, prints, full resolution files, or any additional products. You are welcome to print images yourself, but I do guarantee quality when I print from my favorite professional labs.
Do you retouch my photos?
I like to keep the photos clean and natural looking. If anything looks out of place or distracting during the editing process, I will fix it! If you have requests for major changes or head swaps, there is an additional editing fee that will be applied. I take out or soften acne automatically unless you request otherwise.
Why Film?
I shoot mainly film because I’ve found that it not only provides the most beautiful results, especially in print, but because it also creates a more relaxed experience during the session. I am able to connect more and shoot less, which provides more authentic images. I love the beautiful natural colors, fine art quality of the photos, and nostalgic feeling that film provides that digital just can’t replicate. I do, however, often bring a digital camera to my sessions just to take a few backups, and all images are delivered as digital files.
Seniors with Friends
Senior sessions can be really amazing just with one person, or usually with your mom along (and yes, I always try to rope the mom into at least one shot!), but I find it’s even more fun with friends! If you have booked your session with your friends, I will spend time with each of you individually in each location, making sure we get each of you with your unique personalities. Then of course we will take several shots of you together! This gives us plenty of time for clothing changes, and friends help bring out those natural smiles. It’s such a win-win situation!
Thank you for trusting me with these important photos! I can’t wait to spend some time making magic with you as you go on your biggest journey yet.
